This new award will be made to the post office network that has, in the view of the judges, successfully implemented a significant retail transformation programme for a measurable and enduring effect across its business spectrum. Applicants must demonstrate this impact across a number of key business dimensions. These could include: improved customer service, product development, cost reduction, or improved financial returns. The judges will also look for evidence of the use of retail technology and will take due regard to the degree of modernisation and originality.

There was no doubt in the judges’ mind that the Swiss Post with its Swiss Post App, qualified for the 2011 Retail Project award. This customer oriented solution for mobile smart phones had clocked up 150 000 downloads and had claimed to be one of the top ten apps in Switzerland, an impressive example of Post demonstrating its important role in a modern world.
